Nordic Legal operates as an international group comprising several legally independent entities.

 

Nordic Legal Advokatanpartsselskab in Denmark is a law firm incorporated as a Danish private limited company and is subject to the Danish Code of Conduct for Lawyers and the supervision of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

 

Nordic Legal in Finland is a law firm subject to Finnish regulation.

 

The other entities, including Nordic Legal Sweden and Nordic Gambling, are not law firms and do not provide legal services as law firms. These entities are not subject to the Danish Code of Conduct for Lawyers or the supervision of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

Supervision and Admission to Practise

 

Nordic Legal Advokatanpartsselskab is, as a law firm, subject to the Danish Code of Conduct for Lawyers and the supervision of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

The lawyers practising with Nordic Legal Advokatanpartsselskab have been admitted to practise by the Danish Civil Affairs Agency and are members of the Danish Bar and Law Society. The company is registered with the Danish Bar and Law Society under law firm no. 83890.

 

Professional Indemnity Insurance and Guarantee

 

Nordic Legal Advokatanpartsselskab has taken out professional indemnity insurance and provided a guarantee in accordance with the rules of the Danish Bar and Law Society. The professional indemnity insurance covers all legal services provided by Nordic Legal Advokatanpartsselskab, irrespective of where such services are provided.

Terms and Conditions of Business

 

Information regarding any choice of law and jurisdiction clauses, as well as the application of general terms and conditions of business, is set out in the relevant engagement letter entered into with the client.

Public Legal Aid and Legal Expenses Insurance

 

Depending on the nature of the matter and the client’s circumstances, the costs of legal assistance may be covered in whole or in part by public legal aid, legal aid proceedings or legal expenses insurance. Legal expenses insurance may, among other things, form part of a private or business insurance policy.

 

Clients are encouraged to inform Nordic Legal of any relevant insurance policies. Where relevant to the matter, Nordic Legal will advise the client on the available options for public or insurance-funded legal aid.

 

If the legal fees are to be paid in whole or in part by a public authority or an insurance company, the client will be informed in the engagement letter, or by separate written notice at the outset of the matter, of the principles governing the calculation of the fees and the possible financial consequences. Depending on the circumstances, this may include any deductible, coverage limit, restrictions on coverage and the client’s potential liability for amounts not covered by the public authority or insurance company.

Disputes and Complaints

 

Clients may submit complaints concerning the legal advice provided or the fees charged to the Danish Bar and Law Society’s Disciplinary Board.
